Sunny Lenarduzzi’s #1 Secret for YouTube Success

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again- branding is the #1 best kept secret for YouTube success. But I know what you’re thinking- “You’re a graphic designer. Don’t you think you’re a teeny bit biased?” And I get it- so don’t take my word for it!

In her video “If I Were Just Starting My Channel,” YouTube growth expert Sunny Lenarduzzi lists branding as the #1 most important factor for YouTube success. She explains, “When people land on your channel on YouTube, you really have 5 seconds to tell them why they should stick around and subscribe… you really have to knock people’s socks off the moment they come to your channel.”

This is where your branding comes in. Here are three steps to achieving mind-blowing branding on YouTube:

1) Have an awesome banner. Having a graphic designer design a custom YouTube banner can make all the difference to people deciding whether or not to click that subscribe button. If you’re more of a DIY-er, checkout my DIY YouTube branding kit for designer-approved templates and elements for banners, end screens, and logos!

2) Make your thumbnail designs match. We are seeing an increasing movement of YouTube thumbnails adopting the Instagram model of having a “theme.” Similar colors, fonts, and textures help to make your page look cohesive and professional.

3) Have an animated intro at the beginning of each video and in your channel trailer! This does wonders for your professionalism and authority on YouTube and is a great way to show off your style and branding.

Want to knock all three of these out at the same time? Check out the YouTube Starter Pack! It includes a logo and branding workup, banner, animated intro, and a FREE thumbnail design.
